Welcome to the Howard College Café, a hidden gem nestled on 289 Mazisi Kunene Rd, Glenwood, Berea, South Africa. This café stands as a delightful retreat for students and locals alike, offering a diverse range of dishes that marry quality with a cozy atmosphere. Here, the culinary experience is far more than mere sustenance; it's about community, comfort, and care.
A quick glimpse at customer reviews reveals the heartfelt sentiments expressed by patrons. Many speak admirably of the food quality, emphasizing that it’s worth the slightly elevated prices. Isaac Mbani highlights the care taken in treating all customers equally, while Nhlalonhle Mngunyana praises the café’s commitment to cleanliness and quality products — a rare find, especially in today's fast-paced environment.
However, it's worth noting that prices may not cater to every student’s budget. As Nhlalonhle aptly puts it, "the food quality is worth paying the price," and this might be a sentiment echoed by those who wait in anticipation for their meals. Rather than viewing waiting time as a nuisance, patrons are encouraged to reflect on the joy their meals will bring. In a world where fast food often takes precedence, the act of patiently waiting for quality food becomes part of the experience.
The ambiance of the café is another essential element; as described by sipho nyembe, a variety of books available in the café create a welcoming environment. Students can often be seen engaging in animated discussions or quietly enjoying their meals alone. It’s a calm space, perfect for unwinding or studying amidst the hustle of academic life.
While the menu does feature a variety of food options, it’s worth noting that the halaal offerings may be limited, although the quality of the dishes served certainly stands out. Safia Kebeje points out the commendable service provided, especially considering the cafe’s commitment to maintaining high standards. Beyond the aesthetic and taste, the café’s philosophy of prioritizing customer care over mere profit makes a lasting impression.
In conclusion, Howard College Café not only fills your stomach but nourishes your spirit with a thoughtful approach to food and community. With its blend of high-quality ingredients, a cozy atmosphere, and an evident commitment to customer service, this café is indeed an establishment worth visiting for anyone venturing through Glenwood.

Good food is sold and customers are treated equally. Although the prices are too high, their food is great.

The place sells good food. The prices are abit high which may not be accomodative for all students however the food quality is worth paying the price. Ive been in the kitchen and let me just say "they have a standard of cleanliness" the pride themselves by which is amazing to still find in a world were most seek profit first then excellent customer care and service. They also pride themselves on usong quality products in their food. Yes you have to wait for your food after you have ordered it. The waiting times very however I beleive the worst thing you can do is base your waiting experience on how hungry you were when you ordered your food and you had to wait to get it. The atmosphere is calm and nothing outside of the usual students chatting and sitting down to enjoy their meals.
